Since I needed a Pre-OP pulmo/CF visit to clear me for surgery i called the UW and when the nurse called me back she was like "OHHH Becca you have been complaining of this pain for soo long isn't it wonderful we have finally figured out whats going on (WHAT....WE....really.... where have u been in this "we") and then they would only allow me to see the one doctor I absolutely HATE....so I called the pulmo doctor that I have seen once before and he agreed to see me for all the Pre-OP pulmo testing
I had that appointment and ROCKED my PFTS and my doc told me that if I die on the table it wont be because of my CF (thanks....I guess)

I had my pre-op appt today with the doctor doing the surgery and they are pretty sure they are going to be able to do this laparoscopically (but there is no gaurantee and I guess it is a legal thing that they have to advise me of procedurial changes) They told me that I have to stop eating 8hrs before surgery and can drink clear liquids up until 3 hrs before (does VODKA and rum count...cuz I can see through them? )

Got a date for surgery
OK well I went to the GYN today to "discuss" my ultrasound....It was kinda funny because she walked in and was like well we found the cause of the pain....ok this is a large cyst and needs to come out ASAP. She did a lot of reassuring of me because they are going to TRY to do this laparoscopically but there is no guarantee since the cyst is so large (and to be prepared that I may go into surgery and wake up with an incision). It will be an outpatient procedure if they don't have to cut me open but if they do I will be in the hospital for a few days... the bad news is that because the cyst is as big as it is they cant see my ovary and they don't know if they are going to have to remove the ovary or not(my understanding was that part or most of it would be removed) (this is where all the reassuring came in) My doctor has told me that removing 1 ovary will not decrease my chance of having kids and that it wont change my cycle either..... this is when I asked her to fax the reports off to my primary doctor---the one that refused to order an ultrasound....she was more than happy to do that...
Surgery is set for December 17 with a mandatory 2 weeks off work and if they have to do an incision I will be off work for 6 weeks. This actually works well because I can finish my classes take my break and go back to classes. The best part is I asked Chuck (my brother) if I could "recover" at his house....they have a one story house with a spare bed room.....awesome couch.... 60" HD TV with HBO and I should be getting some good drugs......"RECOVERY" IS GOING TO BE AWESOME!!!!!

my ultrasound
I have been having issues with my primary doctor. most recently it was with this pelvic pain that I have been having (at work it would get so bad i would be crying practically on the lab floor). I went to my primary doctor and she didn't do anything (no exam...nothing she didn't even touch my stomach) but she did say this is probably endometriosis and I would need an ultrasound.. but she couldn't schedule it till I had been on birth control for 2 months.
This was kinda the final straw.... a friend convinced me that this is BS and that i needed to make an appointment with a GYN. I finally saw her this last week and she got me an ultrasound (seriously I got in the next day!! and it wasn't a STAT or ASAP order). When I got the ultrasound the doctor watching was a little to excited with my ovaries, apparently I have dermoid cysts on my left ovary. The doctor was going on about how HUGE they were and how they couldn't even see my ovary (they are about 8cm). She kept going on about how cool these cysts are and how they grow hair and teeth (OK grosss) and how I should google it because these are really cool (OK did that.... not the best idea, and they are REALLY grosss). She was also telling me just to let you know your doctor will be removing these because they are so large (and apparently they cause the ovary to twist and then you have to remove the ovary)
I was supposed to see the doctor to discuss my ultra sound after Thanksgiving... This appointment has now been bumped up to this next week --
